OBJECTIVE
Mitigation of adverse properties of Type II collapsible (subsiding) soils.

TECHNOLOGY
Integrated ground improvement solution combining jet grouting and soil strengthening in controlled hydrofracturing mode using the PolyJET® injection method.

DESCRIPTION
As part of a facility expansion project, foundations were required for process equipment imposing a design load of 40 tonnes per square meter.
The site was characterized by collapsible soils (loess-type subsiding soils) with a thickness of approximately 16 meters, presenting a high risk of differential settlement under load.

RESULTS
A geotechnical calculation model and engineered design solution were developed.
The solution was implemented in two stages:
  1. Installation of jet grouting columns (jet piles);
  2. Soil improvement by injection using the PolyJET® controlled hydrofracturing method.
At each stage, verification testing was carried out to assess soil performance parameters.
As a result, stable foundation performance under operational loads was achieved, and the industrial structures were successfully constructed.
