OBJECTIVE
To eliminate water inflow and soil washout through the concrete retaining structure of the excavation (diaphragm wall).
TECHNOLOGY
Sealing of contact zones between jet grouting columns within the excavation under active water inflow conditions using two-component fast-reacting resin injection.
MATERIAL
PolyJet GT hydro-active high-strength polyurethane resin with controlled reaction time.
DESCRIPTION
During excavation works, soil washout occurred through joints between jet grouting columns, accompanied by increasing water inflow.
As a result, ground voids formed behind the excavation retaining structure (diaphragm wall), and further construction works inside the pit were suspended.
RESULTS
The works were performed from within the excavation using PolyJet GT resin with a reaction time of approximately 15 seconds.
The two-component resin was injected under controlled pressure through small-diameter injection lances installed behind the diaphragm wall.
Upon contact with water, the resin expands, binds the surrounding soil, and displaces water. This process forms a high-strength, impermeable soil–polymer barrier with excellent adhesion to adjacent structural elements.
As a result, the issue was resolved within several hours. Water inflow into the excavation was completely eliminated, and the joints of the diaphragm wall were effectively sealed and structurally bonded.
